Journals with Regular Special Issues/Collections

Many journals regularly have calls for special issues. A particular phenomenon in the scientific publishing community is that some publishers have a tedency to rely on such special issues much more than others. Having special issues is not a problem by itself, but how they are managed matters. There are a substantial amount of debate around such journal special issues and some publishers and editors' practices. This section lists some useful statistics about special issues from a specific publisher MDPI and some other non-MDPI journals with regular special issues.

Useful Statistics: Paolo Crosetto's dataset on MDPI special issues and his 2021 blog article "Is MDPI a predatory publisher?"
